Welcome to Brighton

Brighton is one of the most popular beach resorts, located on the south coast of England, welcoming 8 million tourists each year. Together with its neighbouring Hove, Brighton forms the city of Brighton and Hove.

Brighton is home to a large number of tourist attractions, hotels, restaurants, shops, nightclubs and other venues for entertainment, which make it a popular venue for the weekend parties. Brighton is also a very popular destination for hen nights and stag nights.  It also is often host to major conferences, including the main political parties in the UK. There are two universities in Brighton and Hove as well as a medical school, and several language schools, which provide a consistent stream of foreign students from all over the world.

Brighton's history goes back many centuries, being named in the Domesday Book as Brighthelmston. In those days it was not the important city it was today, but its location on the South Coast made sure of its importance.  In recent centuries Brighton's prospects were boosted by the frequent visits by the Royalty late in the 18th Century, and the arrival of the railway in 1841.  The latter brought many day-visitors from London.  Like many other coastal resorts, Brighton saw very rapid growth during the Victorian era, boosting its population to 120,000 at the start of the 20th Century, compared to 7,000 one hundred years earlier.

Today Brighton and Hove is a thriving city, with major cultural festivals, many historic landmarks, and an amazing nightlife.
